The Kidney Foundation of Canada is people working together for a common cause. We are volunteers, individuals living with kidney disease, donors, and staff members – from all walks of life, all across Canada.Since its creation in 1964, The Kidney Foundation has helped millions of Canadians suffering from kidney failure and related disorders such as hypertension, diabetes, urinary tract infections and kidney stones.
We are reaching out to all kidney patients, from those who have chronic kidney disease and those who are still in the beginning phases of kidney disease or might potentially be at risk. These folks are from every age group from toddlers to the elderly.
After the success of the Steering Towards Hope event (STH) to help raise awareness and funds for Kidney Disease, also to promote organ donation. we have decided to take Steering Towards Hope across Canada.
The kidney plays a central role in the human body and is as important to your health as your heart, liver or lungs. Many of the body’s organs depend on the kidneys to work properly. The kidneys’ main functions are to remove waste products and regulate water in the blood, help control blood pressure, and produce hormones to promote strong, healthy bones.
